God Created us to Day Dream--HERE's why that matters

Updated: Apr 16, 2020

Have you ever stopped to wonder why you daydream about certain things? I believe God created us to day dream. One of my best friends, Molly Wills, is the creator of the Waverly Project---a company for young girls to help inspire creativity, service and purpose. She had the idea to create an archive of "day dreams" collected from an array of different women to help give insight into what motivates each of us. Below is my ideal "Day Dream" which I hope will inspire you to contemplate your own day dreams and God's creative detail in your own life!

CHRISTENS DAYDREAM

My all-time favorite writer C.S. Lewis once wrote, “The more we let God take us over, the more truly ourselves we become - because He made us. He invented us. He invented all the different people that you and I were intended to be. . .It is when I turn to Christ, when I give up myself to His personality, that I first begin to have a real personality of my own.” Wow--beautiful isn’t it? I believe our day dreams are tied up in this as well. Think about it--when you daydream, you are allowing yourself to be free of inhibitions--those mean voices in your head that make you feel self-conscious or silly seem to fade away as you let yourself drift back to your childlike self--the one who feared nothing and imagined the biggest most beautiful dreams. Did you know that God LOVES when you allow yourself

to day dream? Can I go one further? God actually CREATED you to daydream. He WANTS you to use your imagination to dream bigger dreams so that you can PRAY bigger prayers. He wants you to walk....

wait no-- He wants you to dance and skip through life with Him so that the two of you can paint the most beautiful, fulfilling life together. Some of my own daydreams God has put in my heart & head: I’ve always been a girly-girl. When I was eight years old I was the flower girl in a wedding and ran around rolling my body glitter over all the bridesmaids, coining my phrase: “You can NEVER have too much glitter!” I still incorporate glitter & all things pink into my life pretty much daily through my blog, Haplous. Haplous is where God helps me worship Him by using my artistic expression for Him. I LOVE soulful disco & 90’s R&B--give me some Aretha Franklin any day to lift my soul or some TLC to break out the dance moves with my girl gang. All day any day these are my jams. But ALL-TIME favorite ? No contest: “So Into You” by Tamia. *FUN FACT*: (I listened to it every day on the subway in and out of work for two weeks when I first started dating the love of my life--my now hubby!)

I also think that the collective voices of old school gospel choirs are the sweetest sound on earth--love love LOVE that Kanye has brought this back to the radio waves! Fave Romantic Movie: Far from the Madding Crowd Fave Chick Flick: CLUELESS (*VIEWER DISCRETION* must watch @ an all-nighter with gal pals) & NOTE the epic quote: ‘AS IF!’ Favorite thing to bake: a healthy Greek egg-bake that I found on Pinterest

I serve this baby up for my NYC gal pals when I host monthly brunches. Another *FUN FACT* I actually HATE eggs LOL! But it’s a hit with all my peeps so I roll with it! I couldn’t live without--don’t laugh: lip liner, KKW Beauty brand is my fave--yes. re

ally. OKAY FINE YOU CAN LAUGH--but forreal I will not leave the house without my lips done y’all. We all have our ~thing~ heh My style: femine & sleek; Audrey Hepburn & Jackie O are my retro inspiration & Julia Hengel, creator of “Gal Meets Glam” (check it out), is my modern-day style guru. Fave Christian song: Cycles (feat. DOE)

Fave season: FALL-i always miss the most beautiful fall colors in my sleepy little hometown of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. I miss rolling around in giant leaf heaps with my four little siblings and dunking for apples with the neighbors. I miss so many things about living in a small town. I secretly think Heaven will feel like a charming small town even though so many people will be there.

Where i live in my daydream: Santorini, Greece. I spent a full week on this insanely gorgeous island on my honeymoon and continue to visit it in my dreams almost once a week even though it was almost two years ago! There was something incredibly captivating being in a place so untouched by man. I can’t wait to go back. Fave quote: “Be who you are and say what you feel, because the people who mind don’t matter, and the people who matter don’t mind.” -Dr. Seuss
