How many phrases do you see daily that say something along the lines of “YOU ARE ENOUGH” or “YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN LIMIT YOUR GREATNESS"?
I, myself, see them CONSTANTLY. I see celebrities post them on social media, I see ads on the subway, quotes on my Pinterest, I mean--they’re EVERYWHERE. They sound great for a second when you first read them, but if you’re a skeptic like me, you might find these phrases to be hollow at their core. And if you’re REALLY like me you might see them and think something like, “Ohhh really? Cause ummm I’m burned out after a 12-hour work day and a 30 minute train ride and frankly, I just DON’T feel like I’m enough right now.”
Don’t get me wrong. I know that these phrases come from a good place. I’m all for people lifting each other up and encouraging one another to be the best versions of themselves.
BUT I’m a bigger advocate for the TRUTH. And the truth is, the world will ALWAYS let you down. The world will break your heart time and time again. The world will knock you down and move right along without thinking twice about it. THE REALITY OF THIS WORLD is that it is FALLEN, and everything about the world is ruled and designed by an ENEMY who works every day to TEAR YOU DOWN. I’ll say that again. This world is literally designed to destroy you.
Okay...so now that I’ve TOTALLY depressed you, I do have good news! Yes, while it’s true that (I’m sorry) you, friend, are not enough, it is also true that there’s a Savior who came down and conquered this world.
No one can deny that Jesus--whether they believe He’s God or not--changed the world forever. I mean, he split time in half! (B.C./A.D.) And this same man died for YOU. He died so that you can be with Him one day and be happy forever. BUT until then, here’s what you need to remember EVERY. SINGLE. DAY:
You can’t face this world alone because you were made by someone who intended for you to walk with Him daily. You are DESIGNED to lean on Him, to tell Him your secret worries, to TRUST Him to fight your battles FOR you. So WHAT are you waiting for?! Cast your cares on Him. Trust Him to take care of you, and He will help you take on this world fiercely.
With Him ~ You ARE enough.
